You might not have noticed (no drastic changes) that yesterday we updated our blogging system to Wordpress 2.5. It was quite exciting and scary at the same time to be honest. I had absolutely no idea if the project would be compatible with the new release and was quite worried that i would have to start out from scratch one again.
As you can tell, the transition went quite smoothly and we are now running on Wordpress 2.5. The only problem that i hit during the transition was relating to the login cookies. Wordpress 2.5 uses a new, secure method for storing cookies and so the pages sorta went haywire even if a user was logged in. I’m trying to figure out at the moment what changed were made to the login system and am configuring the functions as we speak.
Other than this, productivity has been at its peak level behind the scenes.. Oh yeah, I just bought a Garmin Nuvi 650 GPS unit a couple of days a go. The GPS is wild, it took me all around America without a single hassle whatsoever! Definitely recommend the unit to anyone who is direction challenged like myself.

Yeah, updating is always scary. Whenever I update FP I’m always worried that I might ally do something I’m not supposed to do. Compatibility, as you said, is another worry. That’s why I really need to back-up my site data. I haven’t done that yet.

^ I have about 500mb worth of backed up data atm sitting on my thumbdrive haha. If i made changes to the site i didn’t like or wanted to reverse them, i have all the previous code in my archives. I would recommend backing up your sites data before and after every major change, and about once a week if the site is in development. This way, if something happens you won’t loose all your work.

500mb!? That’s huge! My site’s total data is only around 25mb! Since most of my files are text it’s quite easy to back up. It doesn’t use much space either. The folder was under 1mb! I just backed up my data a few hours ago. I don’t want to risk losing large amounts of data so I’ll back up more often.

haha, well the 500mb is from all the way back to the computers class. So basically i have an archive of all my backups on the drive

Oh, well, that explains why you’ve got so much data. I guess that’s a good thing. You’re pretty safe since you can just return the site to the way it was whenever you want.
